Athlete of the Month
SARAH LITTLE: ASF Leander Athlete of the Month – June 2017
Don’t let her last name fool you, Sarah Little is take-up-space kind of human both in and out of the gym. This 33 year old mortgage and finance professional has been working with her trainer Lucas for a bit of time now and is a dream to work with. “She know the value of hard work,” said Lucas, “Sarah works harder than I knew people could in 30 minutes and she is consistent.” Lucas nominated Sarah for her consistency and hard work, and also because of the amazing strength gainz she has been seeing. We say it all the time, hard work pays off!
Why did you decide to join ASF?
I was doing work out videos at home and not seeing the results I wanted. I have never trained with weights before and was intimidated to go to a big box since I had no idea what I was doing.
What were your goals when you started?
Drop body fat and see more muscle definition. I also wanted to be able to rep unassisted pull ups. I also wanted to see definition in my core (which I have never had).
How close are you to meeting them?
I am getting very close, within 1.5% of my body fat% goal. I am so close to pulls ups, started with the largest band and now can rep with the green band. Lucas has been awesome at listening to what I want to work on and making sure he pushes me toward that. My core is the strongest it has ever been and he always finds new ways to challenge me.
What changes have you noticed in your body, mind, spirit since starting at ASF?
I have seen a huge change in my body, I have dropped body fat and leaned out and see a lot more definition. I have more energy to keep up with my 2 young kids and have gained a lot of confidence. I am lifting a lot more weight than I ever thought I was capable of.
What challenges have you had to overcome, if any, since starting out at ASF?
The biggest challenge was my nutrition. Lucas would always tell me that I can easily out eat a good training program and he is exactly right. Fueling my body correctly has helped me learn that I can perform better at the gym and feel better outside of the gym.
Any surprises since starting at ASF?
Only good ones, that I am capable of a lot more than I thought. I always thought that I could not have a strong core but Lucas has taught me how to incorporate core exercise in so many new ways that constantly challenges me.
Why do you like working out with Lucas?
He really listens to my goals and works toward them each week. He is always pushing me, always reliable and encourages me with a positive attitude.
What is it about Lucas/ASF that keeps you coming back?
I am seeing results. I go twice a week for 30 minutes sessions and I get great results, far better than doing videos at home 5 days a week because my works outs are efficient.
What are your goals & plans for the future at ASF?
Continue to push and work toward my next goal of completing a full dragon fly.
Any advice you’d share with a newcomer to ASF?
Show up and push yourself each session.
Anything else you’d like to add about your experience at ASF or with Lucas?
I can not say enough about Lucas, he truly wants me to achieve my goals. He is a fantastic trainer that is constantly introducing new training techniques and pushing my beyond my limits.
