Athlete of the Month

ANDY GABELE: ASF South Athlete of the Month – October 2017

Andy has been training with Coach Chelsea since March of 2016, that’s 1 year and 7 months. He started with Chelsea because he was getting ready for his first baby triathlon and wanted to put on some muscle and get in shape. Since then he’s gained quite a few pounds in muscle (he’s getting his body comp tested today so I’ll have accurate numbers for you later this week) and has hit some huge strength PRs in the gym. He is a very hard worker, always has a great attitude – I don’t think I’ve ever seen him mad – and will do anything I throw his way. He also loves to learn and asks a lot of questions which I enjoy because it keeps me on my toes.

How old are you?
I am 28

What do you do for work/ in your professional life?
I work for a general contractor here in town with most of my work being downtown.

How long have you been working out at ASF?
I have been coming to ASF since March of 2016.

Why did you decide to join ASF?
When I joined ASF, I had a personal mission to better my life in many aspects. One of those was to improve my physical state. I wanted to get personalized programs in a small community. ASF is the perfect fit.

What were your goals when you started?
My goals are to improve muscle mass and to live a healthier lifestyle.

How close are you to meeting them?
I have made good progress on my goals! I am stronger, and feel better. I just need to keep working on my nutrition.

What changes have you noticed in your body, mind, spirit since starting at ASF?
I have gained muscle and confidence.

Why do you like working out with Chelsea?
Every time I come in I am met with a positive and encouraging attitude from by Chelsea and the rest of the ASF staff. Not only are we training, but we can have a good time while doing it. That is important to me. Chelsea also keeps me guessing (in a good way!) with the exercises and challenges.

What is it about Chelsea/ASF that keeps you coming back?
While I may be nice and sore when leaving and the next day, I always leave feeling like I have accomplished something.

What are your goals & plans for the future at ASF?
I plan to continue coming in and keeping up with this routine as best as I can. I want to continue to increase mass and building muscle.

What is your favorite food?
Shall I dare and say pizza??? It’s a guilty pleasure. But if I had one choice forever, it would probably be sushi.

Any advice you’d share with a newcomer to ASF?
Keep a positive attitude through the workout! It may be tough, but that’s why you’re here, right? Plus, you’re going to have a good time.

Anything else you’d like to add about your experience at ASF or with Chelsea?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at ASF. Equipment is well kept, the staff is friendly and fun, and I always get a good workout in. Thank you to Chelsea and ASF!
