Athlete of the Month
JENNIFER + HAYDEN HUGHES: ASF LEANDER ATHLETES OF THE MONTH – OCTOBER 2018
.
This is a mother/son team who have been training with Coach Lindsey for several months. These two always come in with a great attitude, ready to put forth their best efforts. They encourage each other and challenge each other. They’ve both come a long way since day one, and we – and their coach – are very proud of them! Check out what Jennifer has to say about their ASF experience below.
What do you do for work/ in your everyday life?
Hayden: Student
Jennifer: I work for EA
How long have you been working out at ASF?
Since this past August
Why did you decide to join ASF?
I [Jenn] wanted something that we could do together and this seemed like a perfect solution
What were your goals when you started?
To create healthy habits
How close are you to meeting them?
It’s a journey. We definitely find the joy in the exercise in a way that we hadn’t before.
Any surprises since starting at ASF?
My kid is strong! He’s a little beast but it surprises a little less each time he kicks my butt.
Why do you like working out with Lindsey?
Lindsey has been so creative with our workouts. It really is an experience that we have together – we aren’t just working out side by side. We do quick circuits together and sometimes have “races” or team moves like weighted passes. Lindsey is also great about positive feedback while still driving us to give our best. It’s a great balance.
What is it about Lindsey/ASF that keeps you coming back?
They make it easy on me. I am a busy working mom and Lindsey is great at communicating and keeping things on track. I admit that I have shown up to the gym up to 12 hours early because I just don’t have it all together, but Lindsey has helped me make sure that only happened once! LOL
What are your goals & plans for the future at ASF?
Goals are to make this a lifestyle and incorporate more activity in family time outside of the gym. We plan to keep working with Lindsey to push us and redefine what we are capable of doing.
Any advice you’d share with a newcomer to ASF?
They can really help with anything! Helping a 40 year old mom and her teen son build healthy habits together is probably not a common request, but here we are – and we are loving it!
