2024 Simply Fit Games: Trainer Edition Recap!
As expected, our team gave their best at this year’s Simply Fit Games: Trainer Edition.
The Simply Fit Games are intended to be a benchmark year over year, a unique way for participants to test themselves and see progress over time.
Because this was the second Games for most of our trainers, many of us had numbers from last year we were trying to beat. As a team, we saw our trap bar deadlift totals go through the roof, and by the average times of our flexed arm hangs, it is clear that we have all been working on pull ups!
By running through the Games ahead of time, our trainers can better coach our clients leading up to the main event on September 28th. And by competing among ourselves, we get a chance to push our limits and push each other!
The Winners
The dynasty continued as Sierra Nevels took home the win for the women for the second year in a row. Olympic hopeful Darryl Payne, Jr. won the men’s division and cemented his status as an ASF legend.
Sierra saw big gains in her deadlift, med ball throw, assault bike sprint and flexed arm hang. Darryl also improved in the same four events, and he placed first in vertical jump, assault bike sprint, and deadlift, pulling 540 lbs – almost 100 pounds more than he did last year!
The Results
The Simply Fit Games are so satisfying because they test a variety of fitness indicators, giving every type of athlete a chance to excel. In fact, every single one of the 18 trainers who participated placed in at least one challenge.
Niamh McWalter again had the top deadlift on the women’s side – she pulled an impressive 375 lbs, 25 lbs more than last year! In the flexed arm hang, Krista Bergeron won with 72 seconds, beating the top man, Nicky Trbovich, who came in at 61 seconds. Second place overall went to Sianna Decarli, who bested all comers in the anaerobic assault bike sprint, the aerobic Versa Climber, and the med ball throw. Last year’s men’s champion, Eric Brooks, won the Versa Climber challenge and was shut out of first place overall by just one point.
We hope our efforts encourage and inspire you to take the leap! It’s just You vs. You – set yourself some benchmarks and then have fun attacking your goals in training!
