From ASF owner and DAWA board member Krista Bergeron:
Over the past few years of serving on DAWA’s board, I’ve witnessed the profound impact our mission has on individuals and the broader Austin community. DAWA exists to uplift those who are constantly giving—individuals who often go unnoticed or unsupported. Whether through a small financial boost, a platform to share their stories, or simply a community that celebrates their contributions, I’ve seen how transformative our support can be.
I’ve watched talented but under-resourced people thrive when given the opportunity. Their contributions, once nurtured, create a ripple effect, inspiring and uplifting the entire community. At DAWA, we believe in the power of giving to the givers—because when we help those who help others, we all benefit.
This December, we have an incredible opportunity to amplify this impact. FAVOR, our generous corporate sponsor, has committed to matching up to $20,000 in donations. This means that your gift will have double the power to make a difference in someone’s life.
At DAWA and ASF, we share the belief that Community is Our Greatest Resource. Together, we can face the challenges so many are experiencing and create meaningful, lasting change.
Join us in this mission. Let’s show what we can achieve when we come together.

DAWA Fund is an Austin organization that provides direct financial assistance to BIPOC Community Frontliners – musicians, artists, social workers, teachers, healers. DAWA means ‘medicine’ in Swahili, and their mission is to strengthen the broader Austin community by nourishing and healing those creatives and givers who are at its heart.
Since 2019, DAWA has directly distributed more than $288,000 in emergency funds to more than 600 Austinites. As the organization grows, they are expanding their reach to include more cultural programming. They also recently opened DAWA Studios, which provides recording space and equipment to content creators at no cost. Click here to learn more about DAWA.
