Bench-A-Thon 2025 Recap!

Bench-A-Thon 2025 Recap!

For the seventh year running, the Austin Simply Fit community put on quite the show at the 2025 Coach DJ’s Memorial Bench-A-Thon!

Thanks to all of your incredible support, we raised $10,000 for our Student Athlete Scholarship Fund! We will award $2,000 scholarships to five deserving AISD student athletes next month.

Bench-A-Thon is always a party! Our favorite DJ Chorizo Funk kept the energy turned all the way up and the crowd kept cheering as 73 lifters conquered a one rep max bench press. And these lifters are strong – the heaviest bench of the day was 405 lbs, and the grand total from everyone’s best lift was 9,383 lbs!

One thing we love about Bench-A-Thon is the wide range of people who participate. Because each person gets to determine the weight they lift, the event is accessible to everyone. Lifters this year ranged in age from early teens to late 60s! Some have competitive power lifting experience, while others first tried barbell benching only a few months ago.

Many participants are ASF clients and trainers, but we were glad to have our co-host Chris Tejeda and his Chris Gets U Fit crew, who bring a lot of energy and muscle! We also love to see our many returning competitors who come back for the fun and the challenge year after year! Competing can serve as a benchmark, motivation to keep pushing, and a validation of the hard work we do every day in the gym.

At ASF, our trainers get so much joy and inspiration from watching all of you take risks and reap rewards. Thanks to everyone who made this event a total success!
