ASF Student Athlete Scholarship Fund
We awarded scholarships to five student athletes this spring. Congratulations to the winners!
Meet the 2025 scholarship recipients here!
The Austin Simply Fit (ASF) Student Athlete Scholarship Fund was established in honor of late ASF team member Coach DJ Cedent. DJ passed away of sickle cell disease in 2019. He was devoted to the development of all athletes he coached, and we know he would be proud that his legacy offers support to rising student athletes.
The purpose of the Scholarship Fund is to support AISD senior student athletes who have plans to go to college or trade school. We are proud that in its first five years, the Scholarship Fund awarded $38,000 in aid to AISD student athletes.
The Scholarship is funded in large part by ASF’s annual Coach DJ’s Memorial Bench-A-Thon. This community event has in years past raised thousands of dollars to support the Sickle Cell Association of Texas and community members directly. In fact, in its first year, funds raised from the event went directly to help Coach DJ with his medical expenses. In 2022, Adam Rossow of Spectrum News did a wonderful piece on how the event honors Coach DJ. Read and watch the story here.
The 2025 Bench-A-Thon fundraiser took place at our Central Studio on March 1, 2025.
Our community matched our record of $10,000 for our Scholarship Fund!
