Hometown: Charlottesville, VA
When and why did you come to Austin?
I moved to Austin in April 2023 from College Station in order to be a personal trainer with Austin Simply Fit.
What is your background? How did you get into personal training?
I have an athletic background as a competitive swimmer and Division 1 rower at the University of Virginia. I am very passionate about educating others in the area of fitness and serving those around me, which I have been fortunate enough to do at many levels. I have been in the collegiate strength and conditioning sector for many years, specifically with the University of Virginia men’s basketball team (go Hoos!) and Olympic sports at Texas A&M University. I also founded and coached strength programs in the city of Charlottesville for youth athletes. I transitioned to personal training because I am able to still do what I love while having more opportunities to develop relationships and improve lives through fitness.
Tell us about your current fitness goals and training.
Currently, I am working back from an ACL/double meniscus surgery and my goal is to return to recreational sport. This means everyday is a lower body training day in some capacity for me as I’m incorporating strength, power, plyometrics and running.
What is the most common fitness myth you work through with your clients?
That the results of exercise are only reflected on the scale. In reality, exercise and fitness make many significant changes to body composition, muscle mass, quality of life, cardiovascular health markers, mental health, stress hormones, and so much more. The scale cannot reflect any of these positive changes that occur through fitness.
What do you want your clients to take away from each training session with you?
Confidence that they have invested in their future and taken steps towards their goals. I am intentional about connecting the dots for people to understand that fitness is a process and a developed skill, and every session makes a difference.
What sets you apart from other fitness professionals?
My background in fitness and athletic populations, combined with my personal coaching style that stems from a foundation of care, allow me to get the most out of the clients I work with and to make an impact by joining the fitness journeys of others.
Favorite quote and who said it?
“Leaders take the pain and never give it.” – Eddie Reese
Who is your favorite superhero and why?
Captain America, because he was relentless in fighting for what he believed in, even if others didn’t agree with him. And he’s fit as heck.
